Set up Copilot
The Mango agent brings your organization’s inventory into Microsoft 365 Copilot: your staff mention “Mango Inventory” in Copilot Chat and simply ask “How many notebooks do we have?” — without opening the app. The agent works over the same connection as other AI assistants: each person signs in once with their own Mango Inventory account and works with their own permissions.
This page is written for IT administrators: you upload the agent once, centrally, and release it for your organization — your users don’t have to install anything.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Microsoft 365 with Copilot Chat: for eligible education users, Copilot Chat is included at no extra cost. The Mango agent itself needs no additional license.
- The agent package (
mango-inventory-copilot.zip): you receive it directly from us during the pilot phase. - Administrator rights in the Microsoft 365 admin center (admin.microsoft.com).
- Custom apps allowed: uploading custom apps must be permitted in your tenant (the default setting in most organizations).
- Mango Inventory accounts: the agent acts in the name of the signed-in person — your users need a Mango Inventory account (via invitation or directory sync).
Deploying
Section titled “Deploying”-
Open admin.microsoft.com and navigate to Agents → All agents → Add agent. If you don’t see the button right away: it sits in the ”…” (More actions) menu next to “Export” above the agent list.
-
Select the file
mango-inventory-copilot.zip— Microsoft checks the package automatically on upload. -
Publish: choose who may install the agent — the whole organization, individual groups, or just yourself for testing at first.
-
Optionally Deploy: this makes the agent appear directly in Copilot Chat for the chosen people, without them installing it themselves. For a first test, “Just me” is enough.
-
Confirm the security-policy step and finish the deployment.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”The agent connects Copilot to Mango Inventory’s open interface (the same path ChatGPT and Claude use). No data is copied to Microsoft: Copilot queries Mango Inventory live on every request — always in the name of the signed-in person, always with only their permissions. Every change appears in the history under their name.
What your users see
Section titled “What your users see”- The agent appears in Copilot’s agent store under “Built by your org” — deployed users see it directly in the Copilot Chat sidebar (in Teams, on microsoft365.com and in Office).
- On first use, Mango Inventory’s sign-in page opens once in the browser: sign in, pick the organization, “Allow access” — after that, the connection is set up.
- From then on, mentioning the agent and asking is enough: “How many notebooks do we have?”, “Report a defect on the display stand at reception”.
Removing and managing
Section titled “Removing and managing”In the admin center under Agents → All agents you manage the Mango agent at any time: adjust the audience, block it or remove it completely. Individual users can also revoke their personal connection themselves — in Mango Inventory under Settings → Connect your AI agent → “Existing connections”.
